Sweet Treats For Quarantine !

Macarons

By Franna Hawksworth

One scrumptious dessert that will leave your taste buds wanting more is macarons. These are great to make because they can be pretty difficult. You can get creative with them and create your own designs. For example, make them different colors, shapes, and flavors. Macarons are especially good to bake while in quarantine.

Macarons are great because they are difficult. Making difficult food is great in quarantine because there is plenty of room for trial and error. So, during quarantine, you can perfect your recipe, realize what you did wrong and keep trying until you get it right. You can also try different recipes that might be better. You’ve got all the time in the world to do it.

The other reason that macarons are great is that you can be very creative with them and do different things. For example, there are some recipes for making corgi shaped and decorated macarons. You can also make different flavors of macarons like chocolate or strawberry. There are also different colors that you can do to make it look decorative. You can try doing a strawberry one, but later on, do an orange batch. Macarons are something different to make during this time, so if you’re looking for a challenge and want to try it out, don’t be shy. Happy Baking!

Microwave Apple Mug Cake

By Morgan Tobin

A small cute homemade dessert that will only take a few minutes to make and will leave your tastebuds wanting more! This snack is a wonderful weekend breakfast or a midnight snack. Either way, It is a quick, safe, and easy way to make something delicious.

Pour ⅓ of a cup of small skinless diced pieces of apple into a mug that you can put in the microwave. Then add ½ tsp of brown sugar and ½ tsp of cinnamon(though I have used apple spice as a substitute), mix it all together with a fork until the apples are a mixture of light and dark brown, then microwave it for 30 seconds. If you want you could stir it just a bit before adding 1 tbsp of melted butter, 2 tbsp of milk, ¼ tsp of vanilla and 1 tbsp of brown sugar, then stir it to a tills its mixed well. Add 3 tbsp of flour and ¼ tsp of baking powder and then once again stir it till its a thick light brown batter, try to smooth it out just a little bit before microwaving it for one minute, and voila! You have a delicious tiny apple cake in a mug! All that’s left to do is dig in!
