The Wikirace!
Maria Iodice
As many people know, Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, its fame only exceeded by its scale. However, what you may not know is that aside from its use as a far-reaching font of knowledge, it also has another, perhaps surprising, function. Whether you refer to it as Wikirace, Wikipedia, or even just the self-explanatory Wiki Game, it is an excellent source of amusement for when you’re bored and have no desire to do crafts or things of that sort.
We all know that Wikipedia articles are interlinked-within each article, related and similar topics are hyperlinked for ease of use. This, in turn, provides the framework for the aforementioned game: turning the feature into a sort of self-timed trial. Here’s how to play.
Find some friends or family members to play with
Either use the random article tool to generate two articles (your starting and ending points), or choose two random articles of your own preference. (It should be the same two articles for all the people playing)
Use the hyperlinks in the first random article to get to another article and so on. The goal of the game is to eventually reach your second article.
Whoever reaches it first (or in the shortest number of clicks) wins!
Take a look at the video below for a quick example. Have fun!
