The Girl Who Drank the Moon

By Franna Hawksworth

“The Girl Who Drank the Moon” is an amazing and magical fantasy. It's about this small town on the edge of a forest where centuries ago an old woman with powers terrorized the town and nearly destroyed it. Now the town offers the youngest baby once a year to the witch so she won’t try and destroy the village again. However, this is not the person who nearly destroyed an entire village. This witch was a kind woman who lived with a tiny dragon and a wise swamp monster. She would take the babies and give them to loving families across the village where the children would grow up happy. But one night she fed the baby moonlight instead of starlight, the normal thing she uses to feed the babies. Because of this, the girl developed powers. The kind witch decided that she would raise the baby. When the baby was about 3 her powers became out of control so the witch decided to cast a spell so that she would never use her powers or heard of powers until her 13th birthday. As she grows up threats start to arise threatening the village again and the kind witch is starting to get weaker as the baby starts to reach 13. And then the woman with a tiger’s heart starts to be on the prowl. Luna, who was the baby, has to figure out how to try and help the people while learning about her powers. This is a suspenseful book that will keep you on your toes and leave you astonished.
