by Mischa Williams

Grab your swimsuit, flip flops, and goggles, because of its everyone's favorite time of year… SUMMER!! We all know that the best way to beat the heat and cool off is by going to the pool with friends and relatives. But, because of the pandemic, most stores, restaurants, and facilities are now closed.

But, lucky for us, the Millburn Township pool is officially open for the rest of the summer! Robert Hogan, the head of recreation department in Millburn says “The governor allowed them to open as of June 22 with compliance with NJ health dept guidelines. The pool provides a safe outdoor environment for the residents to enjoy being outside, swimming, exercising and seeing neighbors after being restricted since early March.”

There are fun activities and things to do at the pool! “Recreation playground camps are open and operating under a specific set of covid19 guidelines provided by the NJ health department. Millburn Township owned playgrounds like Gero and Taylor park are open and have been sanitized and cleaned regularly.

When asked what is his message for the residents of Millburn Hogan answered, “Wear a face covering when social distancing is important. Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer frequently, limit exposure to people who you think are not social distancing. Enjoy our parks and facilities, the Recreation Department is working hard to keep them open and will continue to do so providing social distancing and appropriate use of face coverings is displayed.”
