Barbeques

by Franna Hawksworth

Summer is coming, and you know what that means,,, BARBEQUE! You can hangout with friends (right now you would have to be careful when doing that), have delicious food, and have a great time! The traditional thing with a barbeque would be hamburger’s and hot dogs. But in this article we’ll have some different foods that are sure to begood!

The first food is a Philly Cheesesteak. This is a sandwich that has cut beef or steak in the middle, onions, peppers and a bunch of cheese melted on top. The onions and peppers are optional if you don’t like them. They are quite easy to make. However, it would be hard to make them on a grill, so make sure to use a griddle. (If you were to make it on the grill, you would have to cook the beef onions and peppers then put it on the grill for it to melt the cheese and toast the bread slightly.)You can cook the beef, onions, peppers and everything else on the griddle,  then assemble the sandwich much more easily since you don’t have to worry about the insides falling out. Griddles are also really good for hamburgers and other barbeque foods.

Here’s a great Philly Cheesesteak recipe that you can use:

Ingredients:

  • Sliced flank steak (1 pound for 4 people)

  • 2 onions

  • 2 bell peppers

  • However much cheese you want (I recommend gruyere cheese)

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Garlic butter

  • Baguette or something similar to it

Step 1:

Cook the sliced flank steak with salt, pepper and some garlic butter on medium high heat to medium rare for about 5-7 minutes. Then saute the onions and peppers with salt and pepper.

Step 2:

Once everything has been cooked stack the onions and peppers on top and melt the cheese with it. Toast the baguette and then scoop the steak, onions, peppers and cheese onto it. Now you can enjoy!
